Program

Description

The schools you work in are often very basic and poorly kept, but it run by amazing staff who do their best to ensure students a quality education. Focusing on both general primary education and English teaching in a local schools. Despite basic facilities, our dedicated staff strives to provide students with a quality education.

Tanzania's school system comprises preschool, primary school, and secondary school. Preschools serve as day care/kindergarten, teaching children aged 2-6 the alphabet, basic math, and playful activities. Primary schools host children aged 6-14, covering subjects like math, English, Kiswahili, science, biology, and geography.

Our commitment to sustainable solutions and community impact drives us to seek volunteers for a minimum of 4 weeks, ensuring consistency for the students. Volunteers can extend their participation beyond this period. We encourage the spread of laughter, love, and energy through collaboration with permanent teachers.

Applicants, minimum age 18, must provide a clean criminal record. Previous experience with children is advantageous. As an English medium school, all subjects are taught in English, allowing volunteers to assist or teach based on their expertise. Beyond academic subjects, the program offers opportunities for creativity and sports participation. Our Teaching Volunteer Program aims to improve the quality of education being provided to disadvantaged children.

Day in the Life

Commence your teaching day with our Tanzania Hostel by leaving at 7:30 AM for the 8 AM school start. On your first day, based on your preferences and experience, you'll be assigned a specific subject or class to teach. Subsequently, you'll assist permanent teachers, engaging both individual students and leading entire classes.

Around 10 AM, enjoy the children's recess in the courtyard or take a break with tea to prepare for upcoming classes. Post-recess, teaching resumes, with class content tailored to subjects and age groups. Collaborate with teachers to shape learning activities and themes.

Lunch, provided for the children, is an opportune time for your lunch from the accommodation. Afterward, most young learners continue classes until 3 PM, marking the end of the school day. Enhance your teaching experience.
